If you haven’t been following it, strongly suggest you check out the voyage of An-Tiki. It’s about a group of retired Brits who are sailing a raft made from plastic pipes across the Atlantic.
They are part way across the Atlantic closing on the Azores. Last night they may have come close to another intrepid Transatlantic groups of voyagers, Britannia III taking part in the Atlantic Allum Cup.
This commemorates the 40th anniversary of Geoff and Don Allum’s row across the Atalntic in 1971. Britannia III is being rowed by a crew of 15 guys from the UK, US, Canada and Oman.
I knew Don and Geoff back in the 80s as I worked at the agency they were both at. Great couple of guys, both real characters. It’s wonderful to see their feat commemorated this way.
my kind of place, will check this out soon.
