  1. So sailboats don’t even rank at all on that last chart of casualties by type of boat? Is that because they are very safe, or nobody counted them?

  3. I think bonnie has put her finger on it. I’ve seen some similar statistics somewhere else about how sailboats have far fewer accidents than any other kind of boat. Most folk realize that if you are going to sail you actually have to invest some time to learn how to do it first, whereas any yahoo thinks he can drive a motorboat, row a rowing boat or paddle a kayak.

  4. Bonnie….”I hear that a zombie could sail downwind”…really? Have you ever heard of a “chicken jibe?” How about a death roll? (It’s downwind in a dinghy, it’s broaching to windward in a keelboat)Have you ever been hit by a boom? Sailors always have to pay attention.
