Song for Friday: Eric Clapton – Layla Live

It was his 65th Birthday this week. I don't think I am living a wild enough life. I hope I look that good at 55 let alone 65.

  1. Right on. He seems to be getting younger. A very bad example to anyone who thinks you can abuse yourself with drugs for decades and still enjoy an active, healthy old age!

  2. It’s amazing that after 10-15 years of heroin addiction and alcohol addiction he is still kicking.
I saw him last year with Stevie Winwood and it was one of the best gigs ever. The two of them together were so good

  3. Adam, I’ve tried to get you out for a mast of beer.
Here’s my dumb Eric Clapton story (I have a good one, but I’m saving it). During “The Secret Policemen’s Ball” week in NYC (big allstar rock concerts at Madison Square Garden) I was walking down a sidewalk when I noticed Waddy Wachtel (or someone who looked a lot like him) across the street. Pretty geeky of me to spot him, but still, it might be an obscure yet accomplished musician…I was excited! I kept walking while scoping Waddy when BAM I crashed into someone. Looked up, and found Eric Clapton apologizing to me while he fumbled with a cigarette and lighter. So I figured since this was definitely Eric Clapton, it was probably Waddy across the street.
Dumb, I know. But in the blogosphere we can publish anything at all.

  4. I know many musicians who have been addicted to alcohol and heroine for a very long time and they don’t quite recover and do well after, but man, Eric Clapton is such a legend. He’s still smooth.
