This time of year unless you are an insane "frostbiter" (which I am only occasionally insane enough to do), the only sailing in the Northeast is ice sailing. Suffice to say it has to get really cold for the lakes to freeze over enough to support an ice boat. Recently it has been verrrrry cold.
Three of my local nautical blogging chums, Tugster, Frogma and Bowsprite aka Will, Bonnie and Christina had what was clearly an amazing day ice-boating up on Tivoli Bay with the Hudson River Ice Yacht Club. Each has posted about it and you would be crazy not to some time on their fine blogs learning about the antique ice-boats with exciting, nay perilous video footage, lovely pics, some great stories and technical details about the ice yachts.
This video from Bowsprite is a little appetizer.
Hi, Adam!!! thank you! It was amazing, and I was bowled over by it all. c!
