Response to yesterday’s Song for Friday

I guess Iam not alone in what I feel about Pink Floyd.

I discovered when the offspring
gave me an iPod for Mother’s Day and he shared his iTunes with me, he
had everything Pink Floyd ever did on there. It was heartwarming.

Wright played with the band at the reunion for the G8 concerts, which was spectacular to watch even on television:

I have been thinking for some time now that theirs is actual
classical music. Not classic rock. Certainly the grandest music to come
from rock.

I love this band. Michael

Thanks. This is my favorite Floyd song. For years I have been trying to figure out the intro. At the start of this song you can faintly hear an old radio with a couple of very clipped English accents talking.

BTW: What happened to Roger Waters voice in this video. Agh!

  1. I actually like Waters voice in this. To me he always sang these songs like an old man, and now that he is one, it works even better. But there’s no accounting for (my) taste.
Playing the song on guitar, what works for me is always fretting the G on the high E string, and then playing the chords (Em, G etc) straight.
