Back in January, When Francis Joyon arrived back in Britanny, I posted some photos I found on Flickr by a very talented local photographer – Etienne Valois. Etienne also goes by the Flickr name Ermining Gwenn (I think this is probably his name in Breton Gaelic). You should check out his Flickr gallery, there are some brilliant photos.
Etienne is passionate about Britanny. The Bretons are a Gaelic race and like the Irish, Scots and Welsh they are fiercely proud of their identity, their heritage and the sea. I especially loved the photo above as it captured the essence of the Breton sailor. I loved the photo so much, I commissioned a painting of it by an artist couple living in London, my mother and Stepfather. My stepfather, Michael created this beautiful painting of the photo.
What a striking and special image and work of art. I wonder where you will display it, Adam?
It is good paint and he looks like an actual sailor, I always wanted to be one when I was a kid. I changed but I think that it is a pretty good job.
