If you flick your eyes to the right column you will see a map. This is a cool new widget called Platial that lets you create custom maps. It’s incredibly easy to use. I have started one called “Great Places to Sail”. As you will see I have added some of my favorite places to sail.
I would love it if you, dear reader and fellow blogging sailor would add your favorites.
It’s very easy. Just click on the map widget on the right to open it and scroll/zoom around to find your favorite places. You just click on the spot and add it. It will automatically be saved. You can add comments and photos too, if you so choose.
In return, I will investigate how to make this shareable so that if you want to, you can add it to your blog as a community-created widget.
Also, can anyone guess the sailing town in above map? I will donate $10 to Project Beagle on behalf of the winner.
Thanks
widget!! As in what we use on a MAC or is this some windows copy thing??
Nope. That’s what Typepad calls ’em.
Nice…I actually put Berkeley, CA out by Mark C in the Olympic Circle, my daughter’s favorite racing mark. I’m considering where my favorite sailing in the Florida Keys has been before I place my next mark.
Interesting application. Just added my favorite sailing location. 🙂
I’m coming in to this post several months late, but that’s a picture of Newcomb Creek, off the Miles River, in Easton MD.
I cheated a bit (read: a lot) by looking up the road name shown in the picture.
I’ll have to check out your sailing map, looks like fun.
