I received a very nice email from a chap called Vince Brennan who is an expert in knots and fancy work. He web site that has  abunch of cool boat stuff on it with the great name of frayedknotarts.com. Check it out, it's very fancy. Here's what Vince had to say:
I have a small business doing fancywork for boats and owners, but my main thrust in my (rather late) life is to document and preserve examples of fancy rope work (in the form of bellropes, fenders, helms, tillers and rails) aboard existing vessels or in personal collections. I hope you will keep me in mind when you encounter the same in your travels and that you might send me a photo or two of such so I can immortalize them on my library page or various personal pages on my site.
