Follow Bruce Smith on his Caribbean Voyage

I recently got a comment on the “Great Places to Sail Map” from Bruce Smith. Bruce is a well-known Caribbean artist. His work is wonderful. It really captures the laid-back, sunny atmosphere of the Caribbean. This painting is called “Where’s the party” and sells for $500 on his site.

He signs everyone differently. The one to the left is signed “Captain Hangover”. Now there’s a man after my own heart.

You can follow, Bruce’s voyage on his web site or on his blog.
Bruce and his wife Jan are sailing their wooden, gaff-rigged boat, Woodwind from Seattle back to Caribbean. So far they have passed through the Panama Canal. As of Thursday, Feb 22nd they were 200 miles off Jamaica fighting some vigrous conditions.

Frankly, I find most cruising blogs a bit disappointing. Bruce’s is a good one. His wife Jan seems to be doing the writing and you get a real sense about what it’s like to sail a wooden-planked boat over long distances in tough weather. The word Wet comes to mind.

Baklava!
