The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing
that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly
go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or
repair.

This philosophy seems to go into the design of many German automobiles: “This part will last for the life of the car; therefore, we do not need to make it possible to repair or replace it.”
