Passage to Greenport 1800 Update

Bopping along at 6kts on a beam reach. 10-12kts N, seas 1ft, sunny skies. There is no way we should ever do this trip again as it could not be better conditions.

Alice has mastered napping under sail. I am kept busy futzing with sails and stuff. Had a very pleasant hour wing on wing where I finally mastered the whisker pole.

We are about 5 miles offshore tracking along Fire Island and even this far out we are bothered by flies. It’s either Alice or me attracting them

End traffic!

  1. We set sail from Mill Basin around 5:20 PM, sailed through Jamaica Bay, and turned back at 7:10 PM just past Rockaway Inlet. Conditions were truly amazing and it too was one of most memorable sails, though far shorter than yours. We did not encounter any flies, however.
