Rambler 100 Capsize – “Luckily everyone had life-preservers…”

One of the crew from Rambler 100 recounting their survival after Rambler 100's capsize in the Fastnet Race.

 

One thing I am a tyrant about offshore is life-preservers on at all times and clipped on after dark and in rough weather.

Thank heavens that the capsize happened in the day-time and the conditions were not too rough. Between the Irish Coastguard and Phaedo, the Gunboat's support crew on-board a dive-boat at Fastnet Rock, were able to rescue the crew. Even so, five of the crew spent close to three hours in the water
