Had a very jolly evening on Saturday night at the annual Raritan Yacht Club Awards Dinner. Howard Paul and
Knot Again won the club 2008 B Fleet (Non-spinnaker) Championship. Howard collected a whole bunch of other pots too.
Howard has a very large crew list so the supporting cast in winning the Fleet Championship over the entire season was extensive but it turns out that I was one of the most frequent participants. I was winch-monkey for the Keyport Yacht Club regatta where
Knot Again won the Non-spinnaker competition. I also crewed in the Around Long Island Race where we won honors for crossing the line first in our fleet. I probably raced on
Knot Again at least half a dozen other times so I am pretty chuffed to be part of a successful crew. Amazingly, Howard won despite my frequent participation.
The photo above was from the awards dinner. I am the mug third from the left with the white shirt. The crew represented last night were (from l to r) Jeff, Marcie, me, Alex, Stephen, Howard, Colin and Bob. There was at least another dozen or so more who raced on
Knot Again over the season. The one constant was of course the skipper, Howard Paul.
Congratulations Howard!
All in all, a very nice end to good year's sailing and a first season at RYC.
