Song for Friday: Lindisfarne – Fog On The Tyne

This one is for Brits over the age of 40. This not so great quality video is Lindisfarne singing "Fog on the Tyne" on the Old Grey Whistle Test. OGWT was the best music TV show of a generation. You can rent a compilation on Netflix. It's well-worth it.

Lindisfarne were a bunch of Geordie lads (that's Northeast England to our American cousins) who had a few hits in the 70s. "Fog on the Tyne" reached number 1 in the UK in 1971. It reached it again in 1990 when Lindisfarne got together with Paul Gascoigne aka Gazza

Interesting bit of trivia: Lindisfarne's guitarist Ray Jackson played the mandolin on Rod Stewart's Maggie May.
