The first time you’re paid to take take a boat to sea is a proud and scary day.  The number of times you’ve looked at the skipper and thought, I could do that sail hoist/pilotage/mooring etc. better. Suddenly it’s you in charge. No one else to turn to, the decisions are yours to make and the consequences entirely yours to bear. Contd
