What a great clip you found on YouTube! Thanks. I’ve been following Aviva in her record-breaking Round Britain and Ireland race against the clock and had missed the Round the Island race. It’s a mind boggling number of yachts.
Great video, brings back good memories. Really like the round the island race, one of the best I’ve done.
Its a good length, lots of interesting tactical decisions, tide, routing, plus how the wind changes due to topography of the IoW etc.
Its a huge shared experience, with as you can see around two thousand boats, thousands of competitors, lots of top of range boats but accessible to anyone.
And a *great* atmosphere in Cowes afterwards.
Love it, sorry to miss it this year.
