Why Britain rules the waves

I read this on the Vendee Globe web site. It's a message from Dee Cafari about a conversation with Samatha Davies: on Roxy:

"I spoke to Sam on Roxy today on the VHF and we decided to both have an
afternoon cup of tea. The Spanish Coastguard plane was out and doing
fly pasts so I waved and he wished me luck for the rest of the voyage
on the VHF, which was cool."

It doesn't say, but I bet they had cucumber sandwiches too!

  1. Absolutely old chap. I always have a cup of tea and a cucumber sandwich on the downwind legs when I’m Laser racing.
Seriously. What is it with these ocean racers? How can anyone treat this as a serious sport if they have time for a cup of tea while competing. Next thing you will be telling me they actually take naps in the middle of the race.
