Productive

This is the fifth year, I have commissioned a boat for the season.  Even though prepping Cadence is a significantly bigger undertaking than previous boats, I find it gets easier every year.

Yesterday was one of my most productive days. I painted the bottom (evidence below, before and after), painted a hatch, cleaned the teak, scrubbed the cabin sole, cleaned the cockpit, repaired a scupper, fixed a seacock, replaced the air intake, silicon-gelled the chain plates.

We splash on the 21st and we’re nearly done.

  1. Wow. That was a productive day! Well done!
I had a productive day too. I retied the knot that had come undone in my adjustable hiking strap line. Then I “splashed” on the 1st.

  2. This is a seasonal ritual that has been going on since before anyone can remember.
The days start getting longer. It’s warm enough to work in shirtsleeves. Things start stirring in boatyards up and down the east coast.
And Tillerman comes out of hibernation to razz you about boat maintenance.
