These two rather crappy photos taken with my iPhone were of our neighbour in Newport.
My challenge to you all is to guess the story behind this boat. I will give you a couple of clues:
1. She has portholes on one side only
2. She is named after a US West Coast island
No morre clues till I have at least 3 guesses.

It was Ronald Reagan’ state yacht when he was governor of California. It has portholes on the starboard side only because Reagan never wanted to see the left wing point of view.
It was made for a movie in which it was always moored against a dock so there was no need to put portholes in one side.
It was Marilyn Monroe’s private yacht and she didn’t want portholes on one side because she didn’t want the paparazzi taking pictures of her making whoopee with JFK, RFK and Joe DiMaggio in the king bed in the port side owner’s stateroom.
Can O Docker have another clue now. (I already have one of your T-shirts!)
Clue3: she carried many male passengers on a 1-way trip

Nearly. It’s so the prisoners could only see Alcatraz as they were ferried out there and not SF.

No Baydog. Adam invited me down to see him in Newport on the 4th but I already had plans for that day.
The view to starboard wouldn’t have been of Alcatraz, but – equally depressing – O Dock, which would have tormented them with the dismal prospect of endless boat maintenance, deck scrubbing, and bad puns.
